Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #33

Scooby-Doo Team-Up #33 comic reviewWhen aliens from the future arrive in need of their help, Mystery, Inc. answers the call and travels to the 31st Century to help the Legion of Super-Heroes solve the mystery of the sudden appearance of a ghost of one of the team’s former members (Ferro Lad) who has returned to haunt his former friends and demand the team disband.

The first-half of the issue deals with the introductions, getting our crime-solvers to the future, and some good old fashioned detective work, eventually leading to the reveal of the villain behind the apparition (thanks to the help of Velma‘s deductions). Given the futuristic technology, and powers available, it’s fun to see Mystery, Inc. and the Legion whittle down the possibilities until a villain is revealed.

Lucifer - City of Angels? television review

Set before the show’s First Season, “City of Angels?” offers a glimpse at the various series regulars in the early days of Lucifer‘s (Tom Ellis) arrival on Earth long before he had become a nightclub owner or began his partnership with Chloe Decker (Lauren German). Breaking up the current arc, it seems an odd place to insert such an episode that doesn’t (at least initially) add much to the season’s bigger storylines. That said, there’s plenty to enjoy here including the more acrimonious relationship between Lucifer and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) and the angel’s naivete at human existence.

Hawaii Five-0 - I Ka Wa Ma Mua, I Ka Wa Ma Hope TV review

Picking up the loose thread of the previous episode in which most members of Five-0 were exposed to a dangerous bioweapon, “I Ka Wa Ma Mua, I Ka Wa Ma Hope” opens with McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), Danny (Scott Caan), Junior (Beulah Koale), and Tani (Meaghan Rath) still stuck in the hospital’s isolation ward. When a suicidal gunman arrives to place a bomb on the door, before shooting Danny and then himself, Five-0 will work swiftly to save Danny’s life while Grover (Chi McBride) and the bomb squad will work to find a safe way into the room before the detective’s time runs out.

Psych: The Movie television review

Set three years after the events of the Psych season finale, Psych: The Movie reunites the cast in San Fransisco where Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) will insert themselves into the attempted murder of Juliet‘s (Maggie Lawson) partner leading to a confrontation with an old enemy. Along with all the familiar faces (including a cameo of Timothy Omundson, who suffered a stroke shortly before the shooting of the TV-movie), we get the usual catchphrases (even if some of the them feel a bit forced) and goofiness from the fake psychic detective and his pharmaceutical salesman partner fans of the show remember fondly.
