Castle - A Rose Everafter TV review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the Second Season of Castle with one of my favorite episodes of the series. Alyssa Milano guest-stars as Castle‘s (Nathan Fillion) college girlfriend Kyra Blaine and a bride whose bridesmaid is murdered on her wedding day. The reunion is bittersweet, bringing back old feelings while evidence points to her groom-to-be (Brady Smith) as a likely murder suspect. While Castle dates different women during the series before getting involved with Beckett, including a second go-round with his ex-wife, Kyra is the only one who we see him present deep feelings for. And meeting Kyra also clues Kate into a little more about Castle’s past, including the idea that he can fall seriously for someone “real.”

Remington Steele - Tempered Steele television review

Today’s Throwback Thursday post takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. The second episode of the series, “Tempered Steele,” will introduce several themes which will become staples over the show’s run. First, Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) will become increasingly frustrated with the man now posing as Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan). Steele will also make wrong assumptions about a case, and his interference will at times both hinder and help the investigation.

Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #26

Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #26 comic reviewWhen the city is attacked by kung fu dragons Mystery, Inc. calls in some help to deal with the situation. Who do you call when kung fu dragons attack? Hong Kong Phooey, of course.

The latest Hanna-Barbara character to show-up in the pages of Scooby-Doo! Team-Up proves to be more successful than some of the others. The comic has fun with the sheer ridiculousness of the character, a talking canine master of kung fu who never actually hits anything while still falling into the classic Scooby-Doo trope of a reasonable explanation for the bizarre circumstances the Scooby Gang stumbles into.

Remington Steele - License to Steele television review

Today’s Throwback Tuesday post takes us back to the first episode of the 80s detective show Remington Steele. The premise of the show, having the female detective invent a fictional male boss to deal with clients who refuse to hire a woman, was clever. As the show opens the Remington Steele Detective Agency is firing on all cylinders. With the fictional Remington Steele‘s reputation of always being hands off and never getting directly involved in a case, only three people know he doesn’t exist: private detective Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist), her associate Murphy Michaels (James Read), and secretary Bernice Foxe (Janet DeMay).

Lucifer - The Good, the Bad and the Crispy TV review

Lucifer‘s Second Season finale wraps up Mum‘s (Tricia Helfer) storyline which was first teased way back in the First Season finale. While Chloe (Lauren German) begins investigating a murder caused by Lucifer‘s (Tom Ellis) mother, the devil spends most of the episode trying to find and convince Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) to restore the sword and push dear old Mum back into Heaven to be their father’s problem. Trouble is, now that Amenadiel knows Lucifer isn’t necessarily God’s favorite son he’s less inclined to help. While this is really just an excuse to draw out an important plot point, it does eventually serve a secondary purpose in the angel finding a way back to something he lost along the way.
