Elementary - Wrong Side of the Road television review

The death of someone Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) worked with in London brings Kitty (Ophelia Lovibond) back to New York believing that the apparently death of natural causes is actually the third of such crimes hiding three murders tied to a case she and Sherlock worked in London. While initially skeptical, Holmes and Watson (Lucy Liu) begin to agree with Kitty’s assessment which suggests the defendant (Michael Patrick Thornton) involved in the case is likely responsible. And then events take an unexpected turn.

Elementary - Rekt in Real Life television review

The murder of a former gamer (Bobby Moreno) turned online personality and agent for eSports during his live streaming sends Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) in search of the victim’s missing client, an Inuit (Connor Johnston) who Sherlock believes has been framed for the crime. The true motive takes more than a little untangling as the detectives slowly unravel the motives which it turns out don’t have to deal with a $2,000,000 cash prize, cut-throat competition, human traffickers, or prostitution, but instead involve land rights in the missing gamer’s hometown. There are certainly some interesting pieces here, but it turns out some of the red herrings and wrong turns are more interesting than the final reveal.

Silk Stalkings - Silk Stalkings television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the self-titled pilot episode of USA Network’s cop drama set in the wealthy playground of Palm Beach, Florida, where partners Rita Lee Lance (Mitzi Kapture) and Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) work crimes of passions, referred to internally by the department as “silk stalkings.” The first murder of the week involves the death of a model which leads them to the son of a wealthy businessman (Todd Eric Andrews) known for getting rough with the fairer sex. Most of the pieces of the series are put into place here including the show’s use of golf as a metaphor for sex, Rita and Chris using the nickname “Sam” for each other, the unexpected choice of Rita being the show’s narrator, and the pair’s obvious attraction but strictly platonic love for each other.

Hawaii Five-0 - Ka pa'ani nui television review

Hawaii Five-0 uses a staple of movie and television villains for it’s latest episode when the death of a young woman in a remote region of Hawaii leads them to suspect that a Nazi war criminal has been in hiding for 70 years. The B-story involves the unrelated homicide of a rich dickhole on the island looking to go shark hunting. While the evidence initially seems to point to the groups protecting sharks, the truth is actually quite the opposite.

Lucifer - A Good Day to Die TV review

With Chloe (Lauren German) slowly dying in a hospital bed, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) organizes the troops for a desperate plan. Choosing to kill himself, temporarily, Lucifer returns to Hell in search of the college professor (Tim DeKay) who alone knows the formula to the designer poison antidote. With many of Lucifer’s plans, things don’t got quite a smoothly as he hoped. The show certainly pulls out all the stops to deliver a strong mid-season finale.
