After performing an unorthodox loyalty test, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) snoops a bit after hours looking for the missing informant (Storm Steenson) before beginning his job as part of Zachary Beck’s (Anthony Michael Hall) crew. Paired with Angel (Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz), his first job involves looking into the kidnapping which requires some quick thinking on the part of Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy). Although successful, from Reacher’s point of view, things end poorly for Angel who isn’t the only member of the crew Reacher picks a fight with in the episode.

Adapting a different novel for each season, every season of Reacher has been a bit different. That continues in the kick-off of the show’s Third Season where Reacher‘s (Alan Ritchson) good Samaritan schtick gets him in hot water. Saving a young man (Johnny Berchtold) from a kidnapping attempt, things go downhill quickly with our hero having few options and delivering the kid to his wealthy father (Anthony Michael Hall). The rest of the episode involves flashbacks to the days leading up to Reacher’s save, where we learn not everything we’ve seen is exactly as it seems, and Reacher agreeing to work for the wealthy rug importer (but that’s not the only thing he’s importing).

Reacher concludes its satisfying Second Season opening with Reacher (Alan Ritchson), O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos) and Dixon (Serinda Swan) getting tortured while Neagley (Maria Sten) and some Senatorial support stage a rescue attempt. The ensuing shoot-out ends with Langston (Robert Patrick) fleeing and Reacher (in cliched action heroics) hanging off the edge of wheel of a helicopter before climbing onboard, fighting off the gun men, saving his friends, and makings sure Langston meets the same fate his friend. It all works out quite well, with more action still yet to come.

The penultimate episode of Reacher’s Second Season sets up the show’s finale by Reacher choosing at the end to turn himself over to Langston (Robert Patrick) to save O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos) and Dixon (Serinda Swan). While ready to make a sacrifice, Reacher doesn’t do so with a few contingencies. Before that, however, we’ll get plenty of action including Reacher and Neagley (Maria Sten) getting into action at the hospital, first in questioning a witness (through Reacher’s own special method) and later in a shoot-out and a confrontation with mysterious A.M. (Ferdinand Kingsley) as well.
