Remington Steele - Steele in the News television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to a con man pretending to be the world’s greatest detective in Remington Steele. Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) investigate some attempts at sabotage of a local news station that turn deadly when not one but two members of the news team turn up dead. Taking place nearly entirely at the news station, the news team is fun mix of the leggy anchor (Tracy Scoggins), hardened newsman (J.D. Cannon), fearless sports anchor (Maggie Roswell), cowardly reporter (John Reilly), crazy weatherman (Macon McCalman), and Jenny O’Hara the show’s fact checker who smells something fishy about Remington Steele’s official biography.

Remington Steele - Steele Crazy After All These Years television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. Several well-known faces pop-up in “Steele Crazy After All These Years” when a murder occurs at Murphy’s (James Read) college reunion. Steele (Pierce Brosnan) and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) make a friendly wager on which of them can solve the crime first, not ready for the fact that the prime suspect turns out to be the ghost of a student killed 10 years before in the same building. Even if the episode races through some of the explanation of just how the various ghostly effects were pulled off (and completely ignores others), the episode has fun with the concept with something akin to a Scooby-Doo! episode.

Remington Steele - To Stop a Steele television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. “To Stop a Steele” offers an amusing comedy of errors as Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) are hired separately to investigate the same jewel store robbery. Laura’s client is the jewel store owner (Donald Bishop) who doesn’t want his insurance company to learn about the uninsured $2 million gem which was in their safe. Steele’s client is Morrie Singer (Cliff Norton), a thief brought out of retirement for one big score only to find the jewel vault empty when his crew successfully breaks in. With both clients afraid of publicity, both agree to keep the other in the dark while being completely unaware they ware working the same case for most of the episode. At one point, to keep those after Morrie at bay, Steele takes credit for the robbery using an alias famous to anyone who knows Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. After attempts on his life, the city’s most successful divorce attorney (Mark Hutter) hires Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) to find the would-be killer. Going undercover as a divorcing couple allows Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) to get close to a group of recently-divorced women who all lost in court to her client, and hold grudges. Despite multiple attempts on the lawyer’s life, none of the women fit all scenarios. Eventually, Steele’s vast knowledge of film hypothesizes Murder on the Orient Express as a reasonable solution to the entire affair. However, as Laura susses out halfway through Steele accusing the gathered suspects, the clue to the mystery doesn’t lie in a Hercule Poirot mystery but that of an even more famous detective.
