Remington Steele - Steele Crazy After All These Years television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. Several well-known faces pop-up in “Steele Crazy After All These Years” when a murder occurs at Murphy’s (James Read) college reunion. Steele (Pierce Brosnan) and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) make a friendly wager on which of them can solve the crime first, not ready for the fact that the prime suspect turns out to be the ghost of a student killed 10 years before in the same building. Even if the episode races through some of the explanation of just how the various ghostly effects were pulled off (and completely ignores others), the episode has fun with the concept with something akin to a Scooby-Doo! episode.

Annie Potts guest-stars as the alumni who knew both victims and brings the case to Murphy’s attention. Moonlighting‘s Allyce Beasley appears as another member of the group and Sharon Stone as an alumni with, at first, no obvious connection to the victims. The episode also offers a reference to The Third Man in how the killer sneaks around campus to torment the targets (although how she managed to hang two men’s bodies from a flag pole is one mystery that is never solved).
