Rick and Morty – Analyze Piss

In an episode that sees the return of Doctor Wong (Susan Sarandon), Mr. Numbus (Dan Harmon), and a number of new D-list villains causing havoc, Rick (Justin Roiland) attempts to stop engaging them leading to Jerry (Chris Parnell) stepping up to becoming a hero. Putting characters in unfamiliar places, there’s a lot going on in “Analyze Piss” where Jerry gets to prove himself and Rick discovers there isn’t much happening in his life without the constant interruptions from characters like Nimbus, Cookie Magneto, or Piss Master (Will Forte). A Rick and Morty take on a hero story, “Analyze Piss” (despite its piss jokes) allows the cerebral Rick to follow his heart for a change and do some good.

Rick and Morty – Full Meta Jackrick

Returning from mid-season hiatus, Rick and Morty goes into meta-overdrive fighting a number of zany characters with puntastic names in the meta realm while also offering the return of Story Lord (Paul Giamatti) from “Never Ricking Morty” who breaks into the real world and attempts to redefine his character with the help of his crappy creator. “Full Meta Jackrick” is batshit crazy, in all the best ways, from the opening (which includes our heroes flying through the opening credits) all the way to the end where the writer fails to learn an important lesson, much to the dismay of Ghost Joseph Campbell. The episode runs with the concept, never slowing down, while providing us with numerous moments and laughs on the way to becoming the best episode of Season Six.

Rick and Morty – Juricksic Mort

Combining Arrival and Jurassic Park into a single idea, “Juricksic Mort” sees dinosaurs return to the Earth in spaceships to be surprised by humanity’s rise and offers to fix the world for them (which they do in record time). Rick‘s (Justin Roiland) obsession to prove himself better to the dinos leads to a discovery about mildly-sentient asteroids out to destroy them. While not one of the strongest episodes, there’s fun to be had such as the family turning to Jerry (Chris Parnell) as the expert on how to get by doing nothing (now that nothing is needed).

Rick and Morty – Final DeSmithation

Fortune cookies are made from alien poop. And fortunes from the cookies are real. Oh, and Jerry (Chris Parnell) is fated to sleep with his mother. That’s the basic premise for a wacky episode of Rick and Morty as steps in after Jerry receives an odd and specific fortune that the rest of the family laughs off. The more Rick investigates the more he suspects something odd is indeed going on, leading to a confrontation with a business woman (and her many, many troops) and a discovery behind the alien origins of fortune cookies. Things get a bit weird after that.

Rick and Morty – Night Family

  • Title: Rick and Morty – Night Family

Rick and Morty pulls out a horror episode based on the family’s misuse of alien technology in “Night Family” which allows the family’s night selves to do work their sleeping selves either don’t have time for or feel is beneath them. After things inevitably go wrong, with the interesting twist that it’s Summer (Spencer Grammer) who is leading the revolution, the night selves attempt to take over the waking lives of the family as well leading to a crazy episode for control. I’m a little surprised the episode wasn’t saved for Halloween, especially with the spooky-style intro and closing of the episode.
