Spider-Gwen

Ghost-Spider #10

Ghost-Spider #10 comic reviewAnother volume of Ghost-Spider comes to a close as the final issue in the series leaves fans with a cliffhanger and uncertain future for our heroine. Johnny Storm and Sue Storm finally show their true colors in Ghost-Spider #10 by attacking Gwen and threatening not only her life but that of her father if she doesn’t leave New York to its newest heroes.

Things feel a bit rushed and confused here, but that plays into Gwen’s own emotions after being blindsided by the Storms who use force, blackmail, and threats to push Ghost-Spider out of the way. Ghost-Spider #9

Ghost-Spider #9 comic reviewMost of Ghost-Spider #9 features our spider-heroine mulling over the unexpected offer of friendship and team-up by Johnny Storm and Sue Storm. Returning to an ongoing theme, we see some father/daughter discussion about Gwen’s choice of after-school activities (especially given what her father sees as Gwen’s increasingly reckless behavior). There’s also plenty of Spider-Gwen swinging around the city and contemplating school and social media.

Ghost-Spider #7 comic reviewGhost Spider takes a break from both the Miles Warren storyline and Gwen’s sabbatical in the regular Marvel Universe to offer a look at familiar characters whose lives are quite different in Spider-Gwen’s dimension. In Gwen’s world, Johnny Storm and Sue Storm were social media celebrities rather than fantastical heroes. They disappeared four years ago only to show up suddenly when no memories of where they’ve been all this time.

Like her father, and the world, Gwen has questions about what happened to the pair and if their return is also related to some kind of Human Torch who has suddenly appeared in New York. One thing is clear, the pair’s sudden appearance has been noticed by this world’s Reed Rickards who is known as The Thinker.
