Action Comics #1062

Metropolis has been Bizarro-fied. Everyone within the city has become a version of Bizarro, including Superman. Although he’s able to shake it off and return to normal, Superman is left with a city gone mad. We get a cameo from Batman and a couple other heroes doing what they can to help, but Action Comics #1062 is centered squarely around a Superman story where he tires himself out in small victories saving the citizens from themselves over and over again, but in terms of reversing what has been done he continues to fail to set things right.

Adventures of Superman - The Haunted Lighthouse

Superman Sunday takes us back to the 1950s and a strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. In the show’s second episode, Jim Olson (Jack Larson), noticeably never called Jimmy, visits some family on Moose Island only to become increasingly concerned with their behavior and odd occurrences on the otherwise empty island including an abandoned lighthouse which appears to be back in operation. The first-half of the episode is built entirely around Jim, who finally contacts Clark Kent (George Reeves) at The Daily Planet for assistance bringing both Clark and Superman to the island to investigate the odd occurrences.

Smallville - Hug

Superman Sunday takes us back to Smallville, Kansas, and the arrival of scumbag salesman Bob Rickman (Rick Peters), able to influence people through his Kryptonite-powered handshake, who comes to town to build a pesticide plant on the Kent farm and deal with his old friend (Gregory Sporleder) who could expose the secret of his persuasion. The B-story of the episode involves a horseback riding accident where Lana (Kristin Kreuk) is unsure whether the town hermit, Bob’s old friend Kyle, was responsible. This causes conflict between Clark (Tom Welling) who thinks the best of him (and sees a bit of himself in the man) and both Lana and Whitney (Eric Johnson) who get angry at Clark for not lying about what he actually saw to help the police to imprison a man Clark feels is innocent.

Superman #220

Superman #220

Superman Sunday takes us back to the Silver Age for an odd adventure beginning with both the Flash and Superman waking up in each others costumes and suffering from amnesia. As Flash/Superman takes a trip to Metropolis and goes to great lengths to disguise himself as Clark Kent and fit in at The Daily Planet through the use of a mask and wig, Superman/Flash heads for Central City and later towards Metropolis in search of Superman using less skilled disguise techniques. Oh, the Silver Age.
