Throwback Tuesday takes us back to a mystery involving the Three Investigators whose mantra of “We Investigate Everything” leads them to look into a traveling carnival in Rocky Beach after a series of mysterious occurences including the theft of a carnival prize where the thief miraculously disappears from a blind alley. It seems the plush crooked cat stolen from Jupiter JonesPete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews isn’t the only one the prizes the thief is after but just what is hidden in one of the crooked cat prizes and how does a bank robbery on the carnival’s last stop in San Mateo fit in?

Throwback Thursday takes us back to a mystery involving the Three Investigators whose mantra of “We Investigate Everything” leads them in search of a haunted house. The first book in the Three Investigators series introduces us to Jupiter JonesPete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews along with the Jones Salvage Yard, the trademark question marks, and the use of the vintage Rolls-Royce which are all part of the series from the outset.

Using a bit of chicanery to earn their first job of searching for a haunted house for a movie director (originally Alfred Hitchcock and in later additions changed to be Reginald Clarke), the young detectives hope the publicity of the case will help launch their new detective agency. Clarke isn’t exactly thrilled with the arrangement, or introducing the trio’s case for them on its conclusion, but The Secret of Terror Castle does what Jupiter Jones hoped it would do in launching the Three Investigators into business.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to a mystery involving the Three Investigators whose mantra of “We Investigate Everything” leads them to investigate the unusual mystery of an alarm clock that screams. The Mystery of the Screaming Clock is one of my favorites of the series and possibly my favorite set-up and reveal of any of the Three Investigators mysteries.

When his uncle comes into possession of an alarm clock whose alarm is a blood-curdling scream, Jupiter Jones sets out to find answers about the clock and where it came from. The mystery will lead Jupiter, Pete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews on a series of clues and riddles tracking back the disappearance of a professional radio screamer whose home has a room full of clocks of all shapes and sizes, each of which include one of his many recorded screams.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to a mystery involving the Three Investigators whose mantra of “We Investigate Everything” leads them to the European state of Varania to help out a young prince and prevent the theft of his throne prior to his coronation. In that it takes place almost entirely not only outside of Rocky Beach but overseas in another country, The Mystery of the Silver Spider is an unusual story for the Three Investigators who sneak around castles and sewers to solve a mystery.

A chance encounter with Prince Djaro leads  Jupiter JonesPete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews to be invited to his coronation. The United States Government also thinks this a good idea, covertly reaching out to the three and suggesting they attend and look after the prince among rumblings of trouble brewing in the country.

Part of the hunt takes a page from the Sherlock Homes story “The Adventure of the Six Napoleons,” when Jupiter JonesPete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews believe, in one of the story’s many red herrings, that the Fiery Eye might have been hidden in one of the busts which made its way to the Jones Salvage Yard. However, things turn out to be much more complicated as clues will need to be deciphered before the case comes to a satisfactory conclusion.
