Throwback Thursday takes us back to a mystery involving the Three Investigators whose mantra of “We Investigate Everything” leads them to not only investigate the missing dog of a longtime friend of Hector Sebastian but also their client’s claim of seeing a coughing dragon on the beach below his home. Jupiter Jones, Pete Crenshaw, and Bob Andrews go to work investigating the caves in the cliffs along the shore and find a series of clues including tire treads rather than tracks made by any extradentary creature. However, after the see the dragon, the Investigators will be forced to reconsider the facts.
Despite some misgivings, our intrepid trio continue their investigation uncovering several clues which eventually explain not only the missing dog (and several others from their client’s neighbors), the source of the tracks and the dragon, an underground railroad, and an attempted bank robbery.
The tracks, the hidden caves, a couple of old movies, and the prankster of a neighbor with a past in movie props and engineering all help Jupiter put the pieces together. While the Investigators are able to solve another case, and prevent a bank robbery, the later they keep to themselves leaving a mystery a vault broken into, but nothing stolen, for the local police to solve. While they might not get credit for all they accomplished this time out, the Three Investigators are able to successfully close another case.
