As Miyamoto Usagi deals with the harsh reality of their host who turns out to be Yuki-Onna, the woman of the snows who feeds on the life force of others, a surprised Jei learns of the closeness of his rival forcing his new gang back into the snow for a confrontation. The action from Usagi Yojimbo: Ice and Snow #2 comes both from Usagi saving Yukichi from the demon and Jei solidifying his control over his new followers before ordering all of them back out onto the mountain in search of the rabbit ronin.

Space Usagi: Yokai Hunter

Kicking off a new set of Space Usagi adventures, the one-shot Space Usagi: Yokai Hunter begins not in space but in the forest where Miyamoto Usagi helps a pair of travelers being attacked by yokai spirits who have kidnapped their daughter. Tracking them to a haunted castle, Usagi battles a series of challenges including henchman moving too fast for him to see (but not too fast to cut down with his sword), a weeping ghost, a spider bride, and a demon cat, only to run into a familiar enemy at the top of the castle.

Usagi Yojimbo: Ice and Snow #1

Usagi Yojimbo returns to Dark Horse Comics for the first issue of this five-issue arc set in the northern mountains. We get two stories here coming out of Usagi’s last arc in IDW. First, we see Miyamoto Usagi and Yukichi working their way through the mountains after their latest adventure. They will be attacked by local bandits hoping to relieve the travelers of food and gold. After the brief skirmish Usagi is drawn to a cabin in the woods where a shy host offers them shelter, although it appears she may have more than their best interests at heart.
