Arrow - Inheritance television review

As Emiko‘s (Sea Shimooka) relationship with Dante (Adrian Paul) is discovered, “Inheritance” offers flashbacks to Emiko’s relationship with the terrorist and his organization: The Ninth Circle. While initially appearing to help Oliver (Stephen Amell) stop Dante, it doesn’t take long for Emiko’s true loyalties to be revealed as she distracts the team large enough to allow the Ninth Circle to acquire the ingredients for Sarin Gas which they plan to disperse using the stolen drones. Despite the betrayal, Oliver continues to cling to the idea he can save his half-sister, but what he doesn’t realize is his sister isn’t working for the Ninth Circle but running it. It turns out she’s also the one responsible for the sinking of the King’s Gambit and Oliver being stranded on Lian Yu.

The episode also offers the return of Alena (Kacey Rohl) who Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) enlists to help with Archer (something Emiko now has her eyes on as well) and provides a B-story of Laurel (Katie Cassidy) trying to play by the rules as the city’s District Attorney. Sadly, Dinah‘s (Juliana Harkavy) distrust along with a smear campaign by Emiko might be enough to push the Black Siren over the edge. The reveal that Emiko, rather than Dante, is the season’s actual main villain is a nice twist (especially given Oliver’s need to save her). Whether Emiko can be saved is a question which likely won’t be satsified until the end of the season, the fate of Laurel, however, may be decided much, much sooner.
