Wayback Wednesday takes us back to Eternia and the Masters of the Universe. The sixth episode produced He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and the second to be aired, “Teela’s Quest” takes Teela (Linda Gary) on a journey to the Crystal Sea hoping to learn the truth about her real parents from the Oracle. Learning shes’s gone off alone on such a dangerous journey, He-Man (John Erwin) and Battlecat follow as Skeletor (Alan Oppenheimer) dispatches Mer-Man (Oppenheimer) who plans to sacrifice the young warrior to the sea demon Bakkull.

Through the extended flashback, narrated by the Oracle, and interrupted by Teela’s kidnapping and rescue by He-Man, Teela is revealed to be the daughter of the Sorceress (Gary) who gave the young child to Man-At-Arms (Jon Cypher) to protect and love. We also learn her destiny to become the next Sorceress of Grayskull. The pair get a moment, but the Sorceress takes the memory from Teela as to not allow the knowledge to upset her future (which we would see come to pass, albeit temporarily, in “Teela’s Triumph“). The episode closes out with one of the show’s better morals highlighting the love of adoptive parents towards their children.
