“I’ll Tell You a Story” answers several questions leading into next week’s season finale. While Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) works through her feelings for her boyfriend using a magical prism (which offers most of the more lighthearted scenes from the episode), Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) finally gets some answers as Ryan Clarke (Nick Fink) reveals the truth about Malivore which was once a sentient being created to absorb dragons… and who is the father of both Ryan and Landon. While initially skeptical about both Ryan and his tale, Landon is won over by his story and makes a fateful decision to help restore his father to life.
Meanwhile, back at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, the latest fight between Josie (Kaylee Bryant) and Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) leads to a discovery of the secret their father has been keeping from them since birth (only one of them will survive past their 22nd birthday). Other plot threads involve Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith) finally admitting he needs help with the after-effects from Hope’s spell, and Alaric (Matthew Davis) swallowing his pride, and ignoring the fact he didn’t do anything wrong, and convincing Dorian Williams (Demetrius Bridges) to return to the school. None to soon it seems, as Triad Industries has just shown up on their front lawn.
