Reacher – Cut

Having lost a little steam with the recent big reveals and the shock ending of the penultimate episode, in what is the weakest episode of the season, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) takes on Amisha (Anggun) and Lia (Agnez Mo) and Green (Sydelle Noel) and Merrick (Christopher Rodriguez Marquette) go after another of their suicide bombers, to put an end to their terrorism. While doing its job to wrap up the storyline, the structure of Reacher often leads to endings that feel more like extended epilogues than climaxes.

The action is memorable in the two women holding their own with Reacher as well as the luck Green and Merrick need to stop the gas from being released in the night club. Finishing early, the finale has a Lord of the Rings level of epilogue madness tying off various loose threads, most unnecessarily, including bringing back Kathleen Robertson as Congressman Sampson’s (Marc Blucas) widow and setting her up as a friend to Reacher in a way that only seems to make sense if she’s returning as the character in another season.
