Epstein (Gregory Smith) finds his actions called into questions when he shoots a black teenager during a convenience store robbery. The situation worsens an already riotous atmosphere of the local communtity (due to an annual street ball tournament) and the inability to of the officers to locate the suspect’s weapon at the crime scene.

Things look even more bleak when the suspect dies in surgery, when the only witness to the crime, the store’s owner (Von Flores), contradict’s Epstein’s story and two officers from SUI (Kristina Nicoll, Carlos Diaz) take over the scene and appear to be prejudiced against him from the start of their investigation.

While Nash (Enuka Okuma) tries to help, Andi (Missy Peregrym) begins punching holes in the witness’ story and together with Detective Barber (Noam Jenkins) and Swarek (Ben Bass) are able to find the other robber, recover the gun, and (to no one’s surprise) clear Epstein’s name.

Gregory Smith is the star of the episode which does a good job having the young officer deal with the consequences of his first shooting. The missing gun subplot and the heavy-handed SUI officers’ stance not withstanding (and which aren’t really necessary as the natural drama would have been enough), this turns out to be one of the best episodes of the series I’ve seen so far.
