Scooby Sunday takes us back to another adventure of Scooby-Doo… and Scrappy-Doo, too? Far from the glory days of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, the choice to reduce appearances by the rest of the Scooby Gang and focus on Scooby (Don Messick), Shaggy (Casey Kasem), and Scooby’s annoying nephew Scrappy (Daws Butler) led to shorter, cheaper, and less memorable stories such as “Maltese Mackerel.”

There’s no mystery, monster, nor ghost in sight as the trio are tasked by Shaggy’s absent uncle to deliver a package to the docks. The short episode mainly involves the trio running from two goons and then retrieving the golden fish statue from them when our protagonists lose it. Other than some rather half-hearted attempts to link the story to the classic film (which don’t actually apply because the statue itself is the prize in the episode and not some hidden treasure inside) there’s nothing here of note.
