Batman: Caped Crusader – Deep Cover

After a brief detour involving Roxy Rocket, Batman: Caped Crusader returns to the main plotline of the growing gang warfare in Gotham with an unstable Edward Nygma (Ronan Raftery) taking over the reigns of Thorne’s operation. In his search for answers, “Deep Cover” offers the most notorious of all of Batman’s fake identities going behind bars.

With things getting worse on the streets, Batman (Hamish Linklater) goes in undercover to Blackgate Prison as Matches Malone to learn about who is running the show in Thorne’s absence.  I’m not ssure there isn’t an easier way to get that information, and Batman appears to spend weeks behind bars leaving Gotham unguarded, but the results are quite interesting.

When a paranoid Riddler puts a hit out on the very man Matches hopes to warm up to, his mission turns from pumping Nygma’s old friend Dez (Zach Lazar Hoffman) for information into keeping him alive and eventually helping him escape. By the end of the episode will learn who his true friends are, and guess as to Matches’ true identity, only a bit too late to save himself.
