Star Wars Rebels - Ghosts of Geonosis TV review

The two-part episode “Ghosts of Geonosis” works to weave Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story more tightly together with an appearance by Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker). Heading back to Geonosis for information about how and why the Empire wiped out an entire race, the crew of the crew discover Gerrera and a lone surviving Geonosian. As we see in Rogue One, Saw is more determined and ruthless than the other Rebels introduced over the series. It will be interesting to see if we see more of this radical element of the Rebellion this season.

Although it’s stronger than some of the episodes this season, there are certainly issues here. Ezra (Taylor Gray) seems to completely forget he can find living creatures with the Force until the plot eventually calls for him to do so. Given the effect the weapons of the Geonosians have had on the galaxy, I find it hard to believe once back onboard the Ghost the crew couldn’t find a way to communicate with their prisoner (which, of course, they couldn’t because this would give the knowledge about the Death Star). And I’ll admit being disappointed in the secret hidden deep with the planet (which is destroyed in the Ghost’s attempt to break through though the Imperial blockade).
