Red Sonja #1

Red Sonja #1 comic reviewRed Sonja #1 kicks off a new story as Red Sonja is hired to find Sitha, a missing child from a powerful religious caste kidnapped and now in a migrant village which has been pillaged by the Three-Eyed Shezem and is still burning by the time Sonja arrives on the scene. Angered by arriving so late, Sonja is shocked to find the girl miraculously still alive. Feverish and confused, Sitha takes Sonja to be her mother and so their journey together begins.

Most of the action comes late in the comic when the Three-Eyed Shezem catch up with Sonja and the girl only to get the pointy-end of Sonja’s blade and the unbridled fury of the girl’s hidden power. There’s obviously more to Sitha than just a confused young girl.

Transformers: King Grimlock #2

Transformers: King Grimlock #2 comic reviewGrimlock‘s time on the savage world of Menonia continues as Arko continues after the Dinobot hoping to convince him of her value and the importance of her people’s cause. However, after getting a look at the necromonic Wood-Bot slaves of the Red Wizard, Grimlock does decide there is someone worth his time to kill.

Working a bit as both sidekick and guide, Arko gives someone for Grimlock to talk to while explaining a bit about the strange new world the Dinobot has found himself in. While, as Grimlock mentions, her help really isn’t necessary to deal with what attacks him, it does help prove the young woman’s bravery to Grimlock.

Black Widow #10

Black Widow #10 comic review“I Am the Black Widow” concludes as Black Widow, Yelena, and Anya Corazon take on the super-powered Apogee and The Olio. Lucy, refusing to sit on the sidelines even knowing her powers could kill her at any moment, also jumps into the fray allowing the cure to be released (and leaving a whole bunch of ticked off individuals who aren’t too keen on suddenly loosing their super-powers). It’s a win, but not necessarily a clean with for our heroes leaving resentment and distrust in their wake.

As has been the trend with the comic, we also get another addition to Natasha’s team with the unexpected arrival of Kate Bishop providing some much-needed back-up.
