The Question: All Along the Watchtower #3

After stumbling around trying to figure out who is behind the odd events on the Justice League Watchtower, while another hero continues to do the baddie’s dirty work when a possessed Nightshade takes down both Blue Beetles, laying the groundwork to free the person behind everything, the Question is too late as the villain reveals himself in the final frame having successfully breached the tower and having all the heroes trapped and at his mercy.

Nights #12

Nearly four months after the release of Nights #11, the end of the opening arc finally hits stores with an extra-sized issue with big revelations and changes for multiple characters. The first-half of the issue focuses primarily on how well everything is finally going for our main characters as each has managed to grab and hold onto a little happiness as life begins to move on, happily for once. However, life is about to get a lot more serious with a trip to the local generic, if recognizable, theme park.

Jenny Sparks #6

As the war of words continues between Jenny Sparks and Captain Atom, Jenny Sparks #6 continues to explore what it means to be a hero. We get references to not one but two pandemics Jenny lived through, first in 1918 and then in 2020 where her frustration boiled over that not even Superman could help. There’s a really nice moment between the pair in a flashback driving home the point of mask mandates and social distancing that far, far too many Americans missed.

Green Hornet • Miss Fury #1

The first issue of the new mini-series putting the Green Hornet and Miss Fury together is a bit hit-and-miss. The comic opens with the action already underway and the pair fighting a group of thugs together under a circus tent. After the action is done we get the pair meeting out of costume at a charity event for an extended soap opera interlude before finally bringing back the costumes and bringing the pair back together for a bookend action scene where once again the audience is late to the party.

Transformers #16

In a chaotic issue focused on the Autobots finding themselves in the middle of a battle between two warring groups of Decepticons (without an appearance by Shockwave, sadly), the most interesting moment is saved for the end confirming Megatron‘s survival and foreshadowing his return. This isn’t likely great news for the Autobots who have only kept pace with the Decepticons thanks to their questionable leadership so far. The return of Megatron, who probably isn’t going to be happy to learn Optimus Prime is walking around with his cannon arm, could definitely shake things up.
