Charlie's Angels - Angels on Ice television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police officers turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. Season Two of the show follows up it’s double-sized premiere with another two-hour episode sending the Angels in to investigate trouble with the Ice Capades only days before they are set to open. After the show’s two stars disappear, the unlikely sudden appearance of two talented unknowns raises further questions for the Angels. Despite lacking the talent of professional skaters, Kris (Cheryl Ladd) and Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) manage to charm their way into the show (although Kris finds herself playing the fool, literally). James Gammon guest-stars as the loyal but dimwitted Billy whose obsession with one of the stars allows the kidnappers access to the arena and starts the assassination plot rolling.

Remington Steele - Steele in the News television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to a con man pretending to be the world’s greatest detective in Remington Steele. Remington Steele (Pierce Brosnan) and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) investigate some attempts at sabotage of a local news station that turn deadly when not one but two members of the news team turn up dead. Taking place nearly entirely at the news station, the news team is fun mix of the leggy anchor (Tracy Scoggins), hardened newsman (J.D. Cannon), fearless sports anchor (Maggie Roswell), cowardly reporter (John Reilly), crazy weatherman (Macon McCalman), and Jenny O’Hara the show’s fact checker who smells something fishy about Remington Steele’s official biography.

Lois & Clark - The Source

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to Metropolis for another episode of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Journalism, more than spandex-clad heroics, is the driving force behind “The Source.” Exposing the corruption of a local tech company knowingly shipping out faulty switches backfires for Lois (Teri Hatcher) when the company pressures her source (Peter Scolari) into retracting his statement and then attempts to silence him for good. Facing lawsuits and pressure from The Daily Planet’s board of directors, Perry (Lane Smith) has no choice but to suspend Lois when her whistleblower appears to have been killed, taking any possible evidence to his grave. Scolari is fun as the neurotic Stuart, who manages to have a couple of tricks up his sleeve (such as the safety inspector covertly passing a note to the reporter).

The Mandalorian - The Passenger television review

Baby Yoda gets knocked around quite a bit in the second episode of The Mandalorian’s Second Season which opens with an attempt by raiders to get the child from the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) on Tatooine. Later the little guy takes a bit of tumble when the Razor Crest is forced to crash land on Maldo Kreis when the ship is noticed and pursued by New Republic fighters as the Mandalorian attempts to transport his unnamed passenger across the system. Oh, then there’s the race from a swarm of deadly spider monsters.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars – A Distant Echo

With tensions running high, Anakin (Matt Lanter) joins Rex (Dee Bradley Baker) and the Bad Batch on the mission to Skako Minor. They do find Echo (Baker) inside the tower hooked up to the machines as the former Clone Trooper does indeed appear to be the source of the Droids’ algorithm. A middle episode for the season’s opening arc, we get shoot-outs with droids, some odd aliens, and there are plenty of question left to be answered as the team still needs to find a way to get Echo, and themselves, off the planet. Besides the return of a character lost in the original Clone Wars run, “A Distant Echo” is notable for a call between Anakin and Padme (Catherine Taber), one that Obi-Wan (James Arnold Taylor) guesses correctly about suggesting he wasn’t as clueless about the pair’s relationship as it seemed in The Revenge of the Sith.
