Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Every Generation comic reviewSimilar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chosen Ones, the new one-shot anthology Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Every Generation features a trio of stories on Slayers throughout history. “Where All Paths Lead” offers an alternative series of event to those of “Hellmouth, Part Five.” In this version Buffy enters the Hellmouth alone to face the Hellmother. As a result, events turn out less well for Buffy and the world.

Both of the other two stories take place well-before Buffy’s time. “The Hilot of 1910” offers a story featuring the Slayer Matay who searches out an Aswang her village believes is responsible for a series of gruesome murders. Despite being hunted by the Slayer, the monster professes her innocence and eventually leads Matay to the true villain.

The final story “The Sisters of Angelus” is the most interesting as it features a young Slayer named Una who searches for a missing friend sent to an asylum for troublesome girls which turns out to be cult of vampire nuns sired by Angelus (who it seems had a thing for nuns besides just Drusilla).

Batman: The Adventures Continue #5

Batman: The Adventures Continue #5 comic reviewJason Todd continues to hide in the shadows, although not entirely unnoticed, while Deathstroke plays the role of crime-fighter to win over the Bat-Family. Much of the issue centers around Robin teaming-up with Gotham’s new “hero” to take down Firefly (to the displeasure of Batman).

A C-list villain at best, writers Alan Burnett and Paul Dini do a good job of selling Firefly as a legitimate threat to the team of Robin and Deathstroke (while also explaining what the villain was really up to the the late plot twist).

Silk Stalkings - Intensive Care television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the unsolved crimes of passion in the wealthy playground of Palm Beach, Florida. Chris (Rob Estes) and Rita (Mitzi Kapture) investigate the murder of a womanizing doctor (John Rubinow) in “Intensive Care.” Initial evidence seems to point the nurse (Robin Frates) he was fooling around with during his shifts or the former friend (James McDonnell) he beat out for a recent promotion, although neither detective like them for the crime (even when evidence turns up in the doctor’s office). The real culprit turns out to be a hospital administrator (Jennifer Savidge) whose obsession with the doctor turned deadly given how much time he was showing the younger nurse. The episode is also notable for appearances by Richard Scott Sarafian and Denice Duff as a pair of Chris’ old friends, one of whom Lorenzo gets hot and heavy with, albeit only for an instant, while fantasizing of what might have been (which is the most memorable aspect to an otherwise straightforward episode).
