Birds of Prey #22

Birds of Prey #22 features the team in search of the missing Big Barda whose Mega-Rod they come across abandoned. Eventually the group does run into a possessed Barda while Oracle has her own problems which involve the destruction of the team’s headquarters. Like many DC Comics, we’re still seeing the effects of Absolute Power as the power boost of one of the villains the team comes across is suggested to be fallout from Amanda Waller‘s shenanigans.

“The Reality War” marks the end of the season, the end of The Rani (Anita Dobson), and the end of Ncuti Gatwa‘s run as The Doctor. After being saved by Anita (Steph de Whalley) who will play a pivotal role in bringing back the real memories of The Doctor’s allies at U.N.I.T., The Doctor turns his attention to stopping The Rani and her plans to release Omega () from his prison and use his DNA to recreate the Time Lords in her image. The Rani gets a bit more than she bargained for when the show goes a bit over-the-top offering us a CGI skeleton monster (certainly different than the character’s other appearances). Meanwhile, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) is given the crucial assignment of getting the baby which will be needed to permanently set the world right.

In the main story, MacGyver is sent to Burma to recover a poison cannister from a crashed cargo plan whose contents have found themselves  into the control of a local general who makes his money having his minions force villagers to harvest his poppy fields.

Karate Kid: Legends

  • Title: Karate Kid: Legends
  • IMDb: link

Clocking in at just 94 minutes, Karate: Kid Legends is a perfectly fine summer movie that doesn’t overstay its welcome when it combines the star of the original Karate Kid and the star of the 2010 version casting both Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan in supporting roles as mentors for the next kid to be trained in the Miyagi style. Our star this time around is high schooler Li Fong (Ben Wang) who starts out lost in more ways than one moving to New York with his mother (Ming-Na Wen) who demands “no fighting” in an attempt to start a new life following the death of Li’s brother (Yankei Ge).
