Despite delivering the cover this month, the art of Kevin Magquire is nowhere to be found inside the pages of the latest issue of Worlds’ Finest. Up until the issue the art duties had been split equally between Maguire and George Perez. Although Perez is on-hand to draw most of the Huntress‘ storyline in this issue, Power Girl‘s art has been handed over to a pair of other artists giving the latest comic a somewhat mismatched look.

When Helena is wounded by an assassin looking to cash-in on Ibn Hassan’s bounty, Power Girl takes it on herself to have a little talk with Hassan and force him to reconsider the billion dollar death mark he put on her best friend.

Despite having two separate artist working on the Power Girl story it actually works better than the Huntress intro that does little more than set-up Kara’s quest to keep her friend safe. It also reminds us just how powerful (no pun intended) Power Girl is when she isn’t fighting radioactive monsters from Apocalypse. For fans.

Supreme #68

Writer/artist Erik Larsen’s run on Supreme ends here with Mean Supreme‘s final battle with Khromium and the former Supremes making plans to regain their powers with the help of Darius Duck.

Although the issue is fun, the art, particularly the scenes involving Original Supereme‘s attempts at a normal life, attempting to get a job, and his relationship with Sister Supreme, look rushed. This is mainly due the fact that Larsen is taking on double duty on this final issue without the assistance of artist Cory Hamscher. The result is several panels of rough sketches which appear to have been inked whether or not they were ready to be. That said, Squeak the Supremouse still looks cool.

The art is a little distracting and may not send Larsen out with the bang I was hoping for, but there’s certainly enough here for fans of the character inducing foreshadowing of the possible return of the Supremacy and the arrival of a new baby Supreme in the not too distant future. For fans.

frankenweenie-blu-ray-dvdTim Burton goes back to the well again with Frankenweenie, a remake of his short film and obvious parody of Frankenstein. Set in the town of New Holland, our story centers around social outcast Victor Frankenstein (Charlie Tahan) who sets his genius to bringing his dog Sparky back to life after he is hit by a car.

What follows are the misadventures of Victor, Sparky, and Victor’s various classmates who use his knowledge to bring back other pets from the grave in an attempt to win the school science fair. The film also throws in a preteen love story between Victor and the equally socially awkward Elsa van Helsing (Winona Ryder).

Burton has some fun in casting old friends, particularly with Martin Landau as the school’s science teacher who is attacked after the town discovers what Victor used “science” to do.
