Thundarr the Barbarian #1

Demon Dogs! Despite its short run of only 21 episodes, during the most competitive age of Saturday morning cartoons, 1980’s Thundarr the Barbarian left its mark. Set in a dystopian future ruled by savagery, super-science, and sorcery, kids were introduced to the barbarian Thundarr and his companions the sorceress Princess Ariel and Ookla the Mok (obviously a Chewbacca-inspired sidekick). Created by Steve Gerber, with character and world design from both Alex Toth and Jack Kirby (yes, that Jack Kirby), and beating He-Man to television by three years, the cartoon would leave quite an impression on children of a certain age.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Muppet Show, the half-hour special brings the Muppets back to the Muppet Theater for sketches, musical numbers, and classic backstage antics. Special guest Sabrina Carpenter is on hand both on and off the stage as the Muppets raise the curtain, light the lights, and play the music. Continuing to search for more periphery Marvel Comics characters to add to the MCU, Disney+ offers up longtime hero, and sometimes West Coast Avenger, Wonder Man. Opening with an old movie featuring an actor playing the larger than life movie character with an extra dash of Flash Gordon thrown-in, in a pretty comic-accurate costume, we soon jump to the young boy in the audience who grows up to be a struggling actor with a burning desire to play his childhood hero on the big screen.

There are no shenanigans from Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (David Errigo Jr.) in “Lord of the Firesides.” Although the pair make a brief cameo, the story is set around Perry being forced to help Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) and the villain’s latest invetion being accidentally turned on and triggering trouble at teh Fireside Girl Lodge.

Nights #17

The penultimate issue of the arc brings the eclipse, the opening of the door, a glimpse at what lies beyond, death, heartbreak, and the end of Thule. Although there is still one issue left in this arc, Nights #17 appears to end the time of Gray, Erik, and Agent Tsukumari (two of whom will leave the island together after the chaos Isaac wrought following his transformation inside the door and his return as something monstrous.
