Detective Comics #1108

Continuing the story begun in the previous issue, Detective Comics #1108 offers a team-up with Batman, Black Canary, and Green Arrow all working a case that ties back years prior featuring a now deceased young hero known as Prion as a conspiracy tying back to a secretive family. The comic offers both a current look at our heroes and flashbacks (which include Batman in the best version of his costume) as the story continues to take shape.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the Milano restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan where a group of six friends, a waiter, and one guest, would gather once a month for an exclusive dinner and a mystery to be solved. Originally published in the anthology The Further Adventures of Batman as one of 14 short stories from various authors to commemorate the hero’s 50th Anniversary, “Northwestward” provides a tale where the Widowers helped the world’s greatest detective solve a mystery.

Green Lantern #30

When Hal Jordan comes to Gotham City, Green Lantern #30 offers a Green Lantern and Batman team-up. Hoping for help in whatever the Book of Oa showed him, Hal isn’t above trading a few barbs with Batman as the two bicker throughout the issue (although we do end with a few kind words from the Dark Knight Detective).

Batman #162

The H2SH storyline continues as Hush‘s machinations have turned the Bat-Family against Batman. It’s not really explained how he did that in this issue, but it’s happened enough times over the years that even if you are picking up this issue without reading the larger storyline it’s easy enough to go with the flow. The art is good, the yellow oval Bat-symbol is back, and we get plenty of Bat-on-Bat action.
