Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice #1

Obviously set within the world of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, after an introduction by Adam Strange about Kryptonians and search for artifacts in this world (summarizing events from the Kryptonian Age mini-series) for those unfamiliar with the world, Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice begins with Batman, Wonder Woman, Alan Scott, and the Martian Manhunter (with the latter two having  issues with each other to work out) in a stand-off with Superman on the dirt streets of Smallville. Apparently all arriving separately, the group breaks into private squabbles with some helping Superman with the Victorian Age versions of various DC villains robbing the local bank and Batman fading into the night with what he came for.

Justice League Unlimited #8

With the world in peril and Gorilla Grodd, now enhanced with Darkseid’s Omega Energy, and his Legion of Doom near victory, Air Wave recruits heroes from across time and space to help stop the villain offering an enjoyable end to the arc (although there will apparently be plenty of aftermath to clean up in the issues to come). This leads to an overload of heroes hitting the Watchtower leading to some fun comic panels.

H2SH continues following the reveal that Red Hood is working with Hush who begins targeting members of the Bat-Family through any perceived weaknesses or relationships the pair can leverage. Meanwhile, the Riddler (who reveals he’s known all their true identities for some time) offers his assistance to the heroes. The comic continues to follow the pattern of the original Hush arc with plenty of characters jammed within its pages, including Robin bringing in Bane, highlighted in some well-drawn panels whether or not their appearance actually moves the plot forward.

Batman #159

The Hush sequel (which is unfortunately being referred to as H2SH) continues here. Hush has returned and has put Batman in a situation to go to extraordinary lengths to save the life of the Joker (who after getting emergency treatment by Dr. Leslie Thompkins gets his own gurney in the Batcave). On the plus side, the story features Batman adorned with the classic Bat-Symbol (although sadly not the Bronze Age utility belt) and cameos aplenty (like the original) with Batgirl, Nightwing, the Riddler, and the Red Hood (back in the original helmet).
