iZombie - Mr. Berserk

In an attempt to ignore Lowell’s (Bradley James) death, and the role she played in it, Liv (Rose McIver) jumps at the chance to eat an alcoholic reporter’s brains, drink away her sorrows, and get wrapped up in a corporate conspiracy involving a sports drink which drives a small percentage to murder (and played a role in the night which changed her life forever). Leading to plenty of drunk behavior, Liv’s latest meal also hyper-focuses her on a single story, while instilling a righteous fury and need to uncover the truth that nearly ends in her death (if she wasn’t, you know, already a zombie).

iZombie - Patriot Brains

Picking up immediately following the events of last week’s episode, Liv (Rose McIver) struggles with the realization that Blaine (David Anders) is responsible for the city’s high body count among the homeless to feed his meals-on-wheels campaign for zombies and the fact that her new boyfriend is a valued customer. Ingesting the brains of a former military sniper inspires Liv to permanently remove Blaine from the equation but when it comes time to pull the trigger Liv’s moral code outweighs the borrowed brain’s influence.

iZombie - Dead Air

Liv (Rose McIver) eating the brains of a radio talk show sex therapist leads to some unwanted advice and judgments all around while attempting to solve the woman’s murder. Meanwhile Major (Robert Buckley) emerges from his overnight stay in jail (and beating) no more likely to give up the quest for the truth, something which shrinky-Liv chooses not to help him with, despite the steps Lieutenant Suzuki (Hiro Kanagawa) takes to further hide Blaine DeBeers‘ (David Anders) operation.

iZombie - Maternity Liv

Eating the brain of the mother of a newborn baby kicks Liv‘s (Rose McIver) maternal instincts into overdrive while helping Detective Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) solve the woman’s kidnapping and murder (and several others which have ties to at least one other zombie). Thanks to Major (Robert Buckley) enlisting the help of reporter to look into the high number of disappearances Babineaux earns no love from the rest of the department when he’s quoted in an article calling out the department for their lack of interest in the dozens of poor people who have disappeared off the streets in recent weeks.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #14

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #14To find Spike‘s connection with the vampire whose recent kills Spike has been witnessing in his dreams Buffy takes a tour of her lover’s subconscious. Although I expected the answer to Spike’s memories of the killings to be a callback to “Somnambulist,” the truth is the exact opposite. In this case Spike isn’t viewing the killings of someone he sired but the vampire who sired his entire line beginning with The Master.

With the introduction of Archaeus the latest season of Buffy begins delving into the subject of siring vampires and introduces the idea of an ancient creature such as Archaeus leaving a piece of himself, connecting him to every vampire of his line.

Along with the introduction of the new big bad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #14 gives us Buffy snooping through Spike’s mind finding both beauty and horror before confronting Archaeus whose connection to Spike makes him a serious threat to Buffy in more ways than one. Worth a look.
