Scooby-Doo! - A Clue for Scooby Doo television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to Scooby Doo, Where Are You! for another mystery involving some meddling kids and their talking dog. A trip to Rocky Point Beach leads to the discovery of a glowing ghost haunting the shore in an old diving suit. While legend says the Ghost of Captain Cutler has been making yachts along the coast disappear, it’s actually not all that far from the truth as the ghost is in fact the very much alive Cutler who had been stealing ships to resell them. The episode is notable for Mystery, Inc. doing a bit of underwater investigating, Scooby-Doo (Don Messick) discovering a valuable clue, the simple yet visually-impressive glowing ghost, a trap which (as always) fails to work as intended but still nabs a ghost, a few red herrings (including a book of witchcraft), and the unmasking (notable for even surprising members of the Scooby gang).

A Nero Wolfe Mystery - Death of a Doxy television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to mid 20th Century New York and the private detective offices located at 454 W. 35th Street. While the two-part Second Season premiere is still a passable episode, “Death of a Doxy” certainly wouldn’t rank among my favorites. The story feels a bit forced in order to be a “big” episode, with everyone (in front and behind the camera) trying a bit too hard, and the murder plot itself feels like it could have been truncated to a single episode without loosing much. The episode centers around Orrie Cather (Trent McMullen) being charged with the murder of a woman he was seeing on the side. While attempting to do Orrie a favor, Archie (Timothy Hutton) stumbles upon the body. That, plus circumstantial evidence, has even those within the brownstone questioning Orrie’s innocence.

Hawaii Five-0- Loa'a pono ka 'iole i ka punana TV review

“Loa’a pono ka ‘iole i ka punana” centers around Grover‘s (Chi McBride) investigation into murder at the prestiguous golf club he’s been attempting to get into since he first arrived on the island. Working with the club’s head-of-security (Alon Aboutboul), Grover leads a quiet investigation which uncovers both money laundering and millions in counterfeit currency. Tani (Meaghan Rath) provide nominally support from Five-0 headquarters while processing the news that Junior (Beulah Koale) has been been recalled by the United States Navy. Looks like Five-0 is down another man for the foreseeable future.

On a foggy night the Scooby Gang’s boat runs aground on Haunted Isle and a pirate castle rumored to still contain the treasure of the pirate Vasquez.
