The arrival of Lewicki‘s (Arjay Smith) younger brother Kenny (Chris Meyer), who is being raised by a different foster family than the one who raised Lewicki, causes complications when Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) and Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack) discover Kenny is wanted for the murder of a local drug dealer. Already boiling after being falsely arrested by the cops still searching for Kenny (who Lewicki also learns has been working for a local drug dealer), Lewicki begins his own investigation with Daniel (feeling responsible for bringing the young man to law enforcement’s attention) tagging along.

Perception - Curveball

Perception returns from its mid-season break with Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) bringing Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack) in on a case involving an autistic train-obsessed teen (Nate Hartley) who is facing murder chargers after he stole a train and ran over a train yard security guard (Andrew Lawrence). Although Pierce sees no intent in the young man’s actions he is forced to go to Donnie (Scott Wolf) for a legal excuse to save the young man from a life sentence (which turns out not to be necessary as the episode quickly abandons the autistic killer plot thread in favor of a more complex, but ultimately less original or interesting, murder).

Picking up from last week’s cliffhanger, things get worse and worse for FBI Agent Kate Morrtti (Rachael Leigh Cook) as the facts don’t match up to her story about why she shot a Congressman’s son (Logan Bartholomew) in his own home. In fact Kate’s story get so hard to believe even she begins to doubt the truth. After being charged with murder by the Assistant District Attorney (Kevin Weisman), Kate spends most of the episode in a courtroom or in sessions with an FBI mandated psychologist (CCH Pounder) leaving Daniel (Eric McCormack)  and Donnie (Scott Wolf), who quits his job as an ADA, to prove her innocence.

Based on Daniel Pierce’s (Eric McCormack) examination, Kate (Rachael Leigh Cook) convinces Donnie (Scott Wolf) to drop the charges of a over-sexed war hero with a dangerous neurological condition (Lindsay Pulsipher) who blew up a convenience store with a grenade for a pack of cigarettes. Things take a dark turn less than a week later when she’s found covered in blood over the of a murdered body of a member of her Afghanistan platoon. In order to safe her life, and Donnie’s reputation, Daniel and Kate set out to prove the young woman’s innocence.

Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack) gets himself committed to an psychiatric hospital in order to help an old friend (David Paymer) whose client (Gia Mantegna) is charged with killing a nurse and then swallowing the murder weapon. The troubled young woman admits the second, but not the first, and Pierce recklessly goes inside the sanitarium to investigate the woman’s doctor (Peter Jacobson) and members of her group therapy (Marina Benedict, Rob LaBelleLou GeorgeBambadjan Bamba, Johanna Braddy) while being haunted by hallucinations of Sigmund Freud (Judd Hirsch).
