Star Wars #18

Star Wars #18While the Han and Luke‘s story is held to a minimum as nothing more than a comic interlude, the majority of Star Wars #18 focuses on Leia and Stana Starros getting stuck in the middle of the hijacking of Sunspot Prison while attempting to get some useful answers from Aphra. With all hell breaking loose, including dozens of killer robots shooting up the place and a masked man with ties to Leia’s past calmly executing prisoners, the three women must put aside their individual differences and find a way to work together if they have any hope of survival.

Darth Vader #19

Darth Vader #19Darth Vader‘s mission on Shi-torum comes to a close as the Dark Lord of the Sith is able to fight off the attack of the force-sensitives Morit and Aiolin before returning to the front lines and offering Trios the Imperial support the new queen needs to put down the anti-Imperial rebellion on the planet.

The manner in which Aiolin falls is surprising, although it works as a callback Vader’s lightsaber battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith. With the battle already halted, and knowing he can’t possibly best Vader on his own, Morit’s actions to sacrifice his sister are perplexing. Whatever his true motivations, I’ve little doubt we will see the him return before too long.

Star Wars #17

Star Wars #17After dropping Aphra off at Sunspot Prison, Leia and Stana Starros run into a bit of trouble when a madman with his own droid asassins shows up and takes over the prison determined to exact a far more brutal form of justice on the inmates.

Trapped in with prisoners, Leia and Starros are forced to make hard decisions on what they will need to do to survive and who they are willing to trust in order to do so.

The other storyline is a bit more lighthearted as Luke wrangles up some smuggling business for the Millennium Falcon after Han loses Rebellion credits while gambling. The ship’s captain is not pleased with the deal Luke makes (only half of the 10,000 credits Han expected), nor the cargo (a herd of skittish Nerfs) or how it brings Imperial TIE Fighters after them.
