Continuum - Second Guess

Lucas‘ (Omari Newton) initiative into using his limited knowledge of Arc technology and the pieces of the time travel device at his disposal to drive the city into chaos on the eve of the election causes problems for nearly everyone. Privacy goes out the window, allowing the police to round-up anyone with suspicious ties to Liber8, only further escalating the tension and distrust of the status quo, and allows the press to discover a connection between Jim Martin (Tahmoh Penikett) and Sonya (Lexa Doig). Capitalizing on the chaos, Julian Randol (Richard Harmon) uses the opportunity to further push his revolutionary agenda and try to shift the blame of the attacks to Alec (Erik Knudsen).

Scarlet Spider #20

Scarlet Spider #20Picking up after he end of Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #2, the second-half of “Sibling Rivalry” begins with both Kaine and Doc Ock Spidey captured by the Jackal who has taken a lab full of genetic samples for his latest clonetastic enterprise.

Thanks to Kaine (the only one of our heroes to show any heroics), the pair manage to escape and destroy the lab. Sadly, that means a fiery end for the clone of Gwen Stacy but not for the Jackal or all of his precious knowledge which manages to survive. The fallout leaves Kaine and the new Spider-Man far from on friendly terms, but that’s hardly Kaine’s biggest concern after he discovers the cellular degeneration which has plagued him his entire existence has once again returned.

My only real complaint (other than the fact in involves the “superior” Spider-Man) is the art of In-Hyuk Lee. It’s not bad by any means, but it’s a drastic change from both the first-half of the story as well as the regular art of the comic which has stayed relatively consistent despite showcasing the work of several different artists.

Graceland - Smoke Alarm

After years of waiting, and months of careful planning, Briggs (Daniel Sunjata) finally gets his wish when the Carza Cartel’s enforcer Jangles hits town and begins killing local drug dealers searching for the mysterious Odin. Mike (Aaron Tveit) is a little less happy with the news once Bello’s (Gbenga Akinnagbe) men start showing up butchered by the Caza’s enforcer and Bello begins arming his soldiers with automatic rifles and preparing for an all-out war.

DC Super Pets - World's Largest Bark

The latest DC Nation Short featuring the Super Pets, “World’s Largest Bark,” is one of the best. Needing help to take down a group of super-villains Ace the Bat-Hound (Diedrich Bader) and Krypto (David Kaye) call on the help of a Super Pet Green Lantern. However, neither of the super-dogs counts on the effect a squirrel will have on them as well. My only real complaint is the cartoon refusing to use the classic squirrel Ch’p for the short, but that aside “World’s Largest Bark” ranks near the top of the DC Nations shorts alongside Animal Man and Super Best Friends Forever.

Burn Notice - Things Unseen

Michael‘s (Jeffrey Donovan) loyalties are put to the test when he’s sent to the Canary Islands with Sonia (Alona Tal) to kill and old friend (Sebastian Roché) who has snooping around Michael’s ties to James‘ (John Pyper-Ferguson) organization. Unable to warn his friend or get Agent Strong (Jack Coleman) to step in and spirit Steele to safety, Michael has to decide just how far he’s willing to go to protect his cover. When the first attempt fails, Michael has to do whatever it takes to stop Sonia’s men from leveling the entire compound with a drone strike, even if the mean’s agreeing to lure his friend into the open and finish the job with a single shot from a sniper rifle.
