Burn Notice - Things Unseen

Michael‘s (Jeffrey Donovan) loyalties are put to the test when he’s sent to the Canary Islands with Sonia (Alona Tal) to kill and old friend (Sebastian Roché) who has snooping around Michael’s ties to James‘ (John Pyper-Ferguson) organization. Unable to warn his friend or get Agent Strong (Jack Coleman) to step in and spirit Steele to safety, Michael has to decide just how far he’s willing to go to protect his cover. When the first attempt fails, Michael has to do whatever it takes to stop Sonia’s men from leveling the entire compound with a drone strike, even if the mean’s agreeing to lure his friend into the open and finish the job with a single shot from a sniper rifle.

G.I. JOE: Special Missions #6

G.I. JOE: Special Missions #6With Tripwire, Hard Drive, and Beach Head all captured by Zartan‘s crew of Dreadnoks and thrown into a serious of death traps for the outlaws’ amusement, Roadblock and Spirit set out to stage a daring rescue of the group’s compound while Zartan’s new soldiers become a little concerned with their mini-despot’s obsession over the object retrieved from the crashed satellite.

G.I. JOE: Special Missions #6 does a good job of reintroducing both the character of Zartan and the importance and lure of the M.A.S.S. Device as well presenting the dangers of such technology falling into the wrong hands. And Zartan is very much the wrong hands (can you imagine army of genetically created Zartan’s loosed on the world?).

With the focus on Zartan and the JOEs we don’t get as much of the Dreadnoks as I’d like (who only really see cheering on during the various death traps they can think up), but there’s certainly enough here for fans of the characters to check out. Worth a look.

Diaz (Travis Milne) and Denise’s (Brendee Green) return to the city for a visit takes a dark turn when their son is kidnapped under the nose of Andy (Missy Peregrym) and Nick (Peter Mooney) at the playground when both get distracted by an elderly man having a heart attack. Based on an eye-witness account of a suspicious van, Swarek (Ben Bass) and Cruz (Rachael Ancheril) begin looking into a local suspect (Michael Cram) who was questioned three-years ago in a similar case of a missing 4 year-old boy who was never found.

Franklin & Bash - Gone in a Flash

In the show’s Third Season finale Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) defend Pindar (Kumail Nanjiani) who is sued by Rob Lowe for invasion of privacy after Pindar’s drone crash lands on the actor’s deck. Although the pair get the charges dismissed, Pindar lands in even hotter water when evidence from his computer (used to prove he wasn’t spying on Rob Lowe) is used to reopen the insurance investigation into Jared and Peter’s old home which the insurance agent (Jay Chandrasekhar) now believes may have been caused by Pindar’s magic trick.

Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #2

Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #2Send in the clones. When the Scarlet Spider returns to New York to have a talk with Spider-Man nothing goes according to plan. First, Kaine is unprepared for the new Spidey (as no one has figured out that Doctor Octopus‘ mind is in control of Peter Parker’s body). Seeking revenge for his paralysis Kaine caused, Spider-Man attacks an increasingly confused and angered Kaine, but that’s only the beginning of what becomes a very long night.

Trouble multiples exponentially with the arrival of Spider-Clones, the Jackal, and even a gun-toting clone of Gwen Stacy. It would appear the new Clone Wars have officially begun.

I’ve stayed away from Superior Spider-Man as I’ve been less than enthused at the prospect of a Doc Ock Spidey. However, the back-and-forth between the two former super-villains trying to live-up to Spider-Man’s legacy works well here. I have enjoyed writer Christopher Yost’s work on Scarlet Spider and I’m intrigued to see just what the return of the Jackal has in store for everyone Spidey-related. Worth a look.
