Setting the stage for next week’s Second Season finale things get much complicated for everyone involved as secrets are revealed, loyalties are questioned, and Kiera (Rachel Nichols) is framed by the Freelancers for the murder of Agent Gardiner (Nicholas Lea) . Of course Alec (Erik Knudsen) has his own problems as well when Travis (Roger R. Cross) breaks into the lab and forces the scientist to reactivate his CMR. With no place else safe, Alec and run to the only place safe Alec has left which also gives him the opportunity to confront the man he now knows for certain is his father.

Lucas‘ (Omari Newton) initiative into using his limited knowledge of Arc technology and the pieces of the time travel device at his disposal to drive the city into chaos on the eve of the election causes problems for nearly everyone. Privacy goes out the window, allowing the police to round-up anyone with suspicious ties to Liber8, only further escalating the tension and distrust of the status quo, and allows the press to discover a connection between Jim Martin (Tahmoh Penikett) and Sonya (Lexa Doig). Capitalizing on the chaos, Julian Randol (Richard Harmon) uses the opportunity to further push his revolutionary agenda and try to shift the blame of the attacks to Alec (Erik Knudsen).

What should be a big win, the capture of Garza (Luvia Petersen), turns out to nothing but trouble for Kiera (Rachel Nichols) whose idea to reactivate the military-grade CMR chip inside Travis‘ (Roger R. Cross) head based on Garza’s slip of the tongue accidentally leads to Travis being connected to Kiera and Alec’s network. Forcing a shutdown of the connection, Kiera is left without Alec’s help during an attack by a pair of freelancers (Adrian HolmesZak Santiago) and is later taken captive by Julian Randol (Richard Harmon)  and his new movement.

Although there’s good news for the police department with return of Dillon (Brian Markinson) and Mr. Escher (Hugh Dillon) offering to privately fund the mission to take down Liber8, Kiera‘s (Rachel Nichols) sense of duty and morality is put into question following Julian Randol‘s (Richard Harmon) release from prison, especially once she realizes Julian will grow into her future’s most notorious killer: Theseus.

Continuum - Second Listen

Introduced in last week’s episode, “Second Listen” picks up the thread of Kiera (Rachel Nichols) and Agent Gardiner (Nicholas Lea) working together to find out who is stealing the bodies of time travelers, and why. When every clue leads to a dead end, including the drivers of the van who have simultaneous strokes in front of Kiera and Gardiner before they can properly be questioned, the mystery only deepens sending Kiera to Mr. Escher (Hugh Dillon) for help. Although the mystery man offers far less than he knows, he does give Kiera a way to identify the group of time traveling freelancers by the tiny tattoos between their fingers.
