When Detective Carter’s (Taraji P. Henson) number comes up Reese (Jim Caviezel), Finch (Michael Emerson), and Detective Fusco (Kevin Chapman) have to find a way to keep her out of harm’s way without giving away their relationship. Given the detective’s caseload this turns out to be easier said than done as at least three different individuals have recent grudges against her which could turn deadly.

There’s a gang leader (Jason Manuel Olazabal) she’s determined to put away, a husband (Charles Flint Beverage) who beats his wife (Jennifer Laura Thompson) that Carter has been keeping close tabs on before one of his physical assaults becomes deadly, and the would be criminal kingpin Elias (Enrico Colantoni) who already has made an attempt on the detective’s life.

Reese, with the help of Fusco, shadows Carter, and tries to stay one step ahead of whoever has it in for her. He attempts to remove each threat from the the field, but the real threat (Francois Battiste) neither he nor Carter see coming.

The episode works well as Reese has to fight threats on multiple fronts including not letting Carter know how far he’s going to protect her or how he knows that she’s in danger. “Get Carter” also provides us with more information on the detective’s life including her past as a military investigator and the introduction of her teenage son (Kwoade Cross).
