My Adventures with Superman – Zero Day

The two-part “Zero Day” explores the reasons behind Task Force X’s bigoted and racist views on Superman (Jack Quaid) which continue in this episode as their controlled soldiers but the Man of Steel down. The major weakness of the show continues to be its villains which unfortunately is more evident when they are given more screentime. The big reveal in the episodes is apparently Kryptonians, or someone using Kryptonian technology, invaded Earth decades earlier doing rather minimal damage outside of a single government group that included Amanda Waller (Debra Wilson) and General Lane (Joel de la Fuente). Of course, the flashbacks we get don’t explain just who from Krypton might have been involved, what their goal was, or why  the short incursion simply stopped.

“Kiss Kiss Fall in Portal” seeks to take advantage of the current interest in the multiverse in an episode that introduces us to Lois Lanes from across dimensions who banded together to form this series’ version of the Council of Ricks. A small group of Lanes intercept Lois (Alice Lee) and Jimmy (Ishmel Sahid) while elsewhere Clark (Jack Quaid) is being tricked by Mr. Mxyzptlk (David Errigo Jr.) into increasing his power. My Adventures with Superman – Let’s Go to Ivo Tower, You Say

“Let’s Go to Ivo Tower, You Say” is the weakest of episode of the series so far with Clark (Jack Quaid) debating about whether or not to tell Lois (Alice Lee) the truth while she goes overboard in her attempts to uncover Superman’s secrets and find out what exactly he’s hiding. This dynamic continues into our trio’s first official assignment for The Daily Planet covering a gala at Ivo Tower, offering more attempts for Lois to go overboard in her investigative journalist mode which seems incapable of understanding how to actually work information out of subject, where a crazed Anthony Ivo (Jake Green), out to prove the worth of his latest invention, takes the Parasite armor out for a test spin terrifying his guests and leading to the arrival of Superman.

My Adventures with Superman – My Interview with Superman

  • Title: My Adventures with Superman – My Interview with Superman
  • wiki: link

“My Interview with Superman” highlights one glaring issue with the otherwise strong series in its weak and thoroughly uninteresting choice of villains. After being scooped by Perry (Darrell Brown) assigning the Superman story to other reporters, Clark Kent (Jack Quaid), Lois Lane (Alice Lee), and Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid) begin looking into various unremarkable thugs from Intergang using the same alien tech they’ve seen before which includes sneaking into the prison to look for clues. However, Lois plans to use the chaos Intergang is causing to ultimately get her interview. Strong episode when focusing on the interactions between Lois and Clark (and later Superman), but the reporter introductions are a bit too goofy and Intergang is a disappointment.

As the opening episode introduced us to Clark Kent (Jack Quaid), the second-half of the premiere of My Adventures with Superman focuses on delivering us Superman. With a definite anime-styling, we see both young Clark and older Clark confront the buried alien ship that brought him Earth. While he abandoned a search for answers as a child, now his need to understand who he is forces him into the ship allowing him to unlock a costume obviously designed from the character’s New 52 run which Martha Kent (Kari Wahlgren) makes some immediate necessary aesthetic changes to before allowing her son out in the world.
