Spider-Man - Return of the Spider Slayer

Spidey Saturday takes us back to the 90s. The show wastes no time in bringing back the Spider Slayers. In an obvious attempt to create (pretty crappy) toys to sell, “Return of the Spider-Slayers” gives us not one, not two, but three different Spider Slayers with the new ones apparently designed off the shittiest run of Transformers ever (they even combine together to… well, do nothing really except make them infinitely easier to beat when stacked on top of each other – even though the bomb’s explosion doesn’t appear to touch the bottom Slayer). In every way, the Slayers are even less impressive a second time around.

Spider-Man - The Spider Slayer

Spidey Saturday takes us back to the 90s. The second episode of Marvel’s Spider-Man begins to flesh-out the cast of supporting and recurring characters including Norman Osborne (Neil Ross), and his silent partner the Kingpin (Roscoe Lee Browne), who hire Spencer Smythe (Edward Mulhare) and his son Alistair (Maxwell Caulfield) to build him technology to kill Spider-Man (Christopher Daniel Barnes). First, we see the Spider Seekers capable of tracking Spider-Man, and later we see Smythe’s more deadly creation, the Black Widow, in action.

Spider-Man - Night of the Lizard

Spidey Sunday takes us back to the 90s and Spider-Man‘s (Christopher Daniel Barnes) first run-in with the Lizard (Joseph Campanella). Forgoing any unnecessary origin story, the 90s Spider-Man series kicked off with Spidey already firmly established as a hero in New York. The episode plays things close to the vest using the comic blueprint for the characters to build from without making too many obvious changes. Many of the classic character beats can already be found here with Peter always struggling to make ends meet earning what he can by selling photos to J. Jonah Jameson (Edward Asner) and The Daily Bugle, balancing his life as both Peter and Spider-Man, and always feeling guilty about not being able to do more for Aunt May (Linda Gary).
