This Week in Film

A man’s (Hayden Christensen) life is put in danger on the operating table by unscrupulous doctors.  His only hope of survival?  His girlfriend (Jessica Alba); yeah, he’s gonna die.  Oh, and did I mention he spends the flick as a sort of ghost haunting his still living body?  Sorry, I probably forgot to mention that “cool” fact.  Check out the official site.  The film opens everywhere on Friday.  Larger trailer available in the Full Diagnosis.

This Week

This week’s a slow week for movies, as the week immeadiately after Thanksgiving is prone to be.  However we do have a trio of trailers for you today along with full review for The Savages, on Wednesday when it opens in limited release.  Tuesday you’ll get the scoop on the newest DVD’s including Ian’s review of Hairspray.  Wednesday will bring you some more anime action.  Comics are also effected by the Pilgrim holdiay and since shipments are pushed back a day to compensate for last week’s holiday you’ll find the latest comic goodness including the newest issue of our Comic Rack, and a review for a comic everyone should be reading, on Thursday.  All that, plus our usual brand of zaniness!  Enjoy, and thanks for joining us!

More Video Game Movie Mediocrity

  • Title: Hitman
  • IMDb: link

What’s Thanksgiving without a turkey?  Hitman is exactly is good as you would expect from a flick adapted off a series of video games.  It’s not the mind-numbing disaster Doom was (thank God! read that review), but it’s not exactly good either.

Timothy Olyphant stars as “Agent 47,” a bald hitman with a bar code stamped on the back of his head.  He works for a secret organization performing assassination and murder for hire, that is until (for no apparent reason) he’s sold out by the people who own him and he goes on the run with a whore (Olga Kurylenko) owned by the man he must kill and avoid capture by the Interpol agent on his tail (Dougray Scott).

Where Does He Get Those Wonderful Toys

From time to time we give you the heads up on some serious nerd merchandise.  DC Direct recently announced a new collector set scheduled to hit comic shops next June.  The set includes a prestige format of Alan Moore‘s bat-classic Batman: The Killing Joke plus Batman and Joker 6.75” action figures in the design of the tale (sorry, no Barbara Gordon figure with the explodable spine).  The set runs for $34.99 and will be available in comic shops beginning on June 4th of next year!  Larger pic available in the Full Diagnosis.
