Ghost Rider Online

The much maligned, delayed, and constantly pushed back Ghost Rider finally has a home site up and running (though the film’s release has once again been pushed back, this time to February 2007).  The film tells the story of Johnny Blaze (played by Nicholas Cage) who makes a deal with the devil in order to protect someone he loves and ends up becoming possessed with a spirit of vengeance now known as Ghost Rider.  Deals with the devil can be tricky buggers; I guess he didn’t read Faust, huh?  Also starring are Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley and Peter Fonda as Mephisto.  Just click on the pic to go to the official site.

Who’s on Sci-Fi?

  • Title: Doctor Who
  • tv.com: link

Well it looks like American audiences will finally get a chance to see the latest adventures of the man known simply as the Doctor.  The Sci-Fi Channel and BBC Worldwide announced an agreement allowing Sci-Fi to start showing all 13 episodes of the first season of the new Doctor Who with an option for season two.  For those who don’t know the tale Doctor Who is a time lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels time and space with his companions in his TARDIS.  One of the longest running shows of all time that ran on the BBC for 26 years, ending in 1989 (and a best forgotten tv-movie in 1996), finally got a new lease on life last year with the adventures of the new Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and his companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper).  Start looking for episodes Friday nights 9:00/8:00 on the Sci-Fi Channel beginning in March.

The Da Vinci Code Trailer Now Online!

Apple’s trailer site now has the full length spot for the upcoming Ron Howard film “The Da Vinci Code”, available in both regular and high definition Quicktime.  Based off Dan Brown’s runaway best seller, the film tackles the motherlode of conspiracy theories: the bloodline of Jesus.  Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen, Paul Bettany, Alfred Molina, Jean Reno, and Audrey Tautou (the best reason to love the French) star along side a host of other recognizable faces.

The Vatican has already publicly derided the film, but hey..they don’t like anything so that’s no good indication.  I thought the book was a standard issue pot-boiler for all it’s attempts at stirring up controversy.  It’s an interesting subject (and one of much debate), but I can’t imagine Ron Howard will be firing a shot across the bow of Christianity in this climate.  Guess we’ll just have to wait until May to find out, huh?

The Sandman Cometh

Well folks it’s finally official, Thomas Hayden Church, best known for his work as the dumb mechanic Lowell from Wings and as Jack from last year’s surprisingly great Sideways, will be playing Flint Marko AKA the Sandman in the next Spidey flick.  Take a look at the pic and compare it to the comic, eerily perfect creepy casting if you ask me.

Still no positive word from Sony or Sam Raimi acknowledging who the other villain will be (rumors from every Spidey villain from Venom to Electro to the Chameleon).  As for the Sandman though, looks like the casting director got this one right!
