Following in X-Men‘s footsteps DC has decided to make a film starring their own super-group, The Justice League of America. Hold your inner-nerd in check though as early casting rumors sound more like a Bizarro world adventure than a kick ass film. Early names include Tyrese Gibson (for John Stewart, what no Hal Jordan! Hold your inner-nerd in check though as early casting rumors sound more like a Bizarro world adventure than a kick ass film. Early names include Tyrese Gibson (for John Stewart, what no Hal Jordan! Somebody gonna’ die!!) and Ryan Reynolds for the Flash (mmm, maybe). Other actors called into screen test include Bijou Philips (Hawkgirl, maybe?) and Tad Hamilton (might make an okay Jonah Hex, oops he’s not part of the league!). George Miller (Babe: Pig in the City, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome) is set to direct the script being written by relative newcommers Kieran Mulroney and Michelle Mulroney whose only credits include the yet to be released Mirrors. (Really? Just giving the script to anybody? Damn, Aaron and I could have done it!!) Is it just me or is this sounding more like a very special episode of Smallville than a feature film? From these inauspiscous beginings it seems they’ve got quite a bit of work to do to live up to the animated series. Also unclear so far is what version of the JLA this film will use (there have been more than a few). Here’s the version of the league I want to see on film. You’ll know more when we do!
