Several members of the Young Justice team are trapped in the Hall of Justice along with Zatanna (Lacey Chabert) and Captain Marvel (Chad Lowe) when Despero shows up looking for a fight and the heads of worthy opponents to stuff and mount on his wall. With the team totally cut-off from the rest of the world, and Zatanna comatose due to Despero’s mind control, Superboy (Nolan North), Miss Martian (Danica McKellar), Bumbleebee (Masasa Moyo), and Mal (Kevin Michael Richardson) are on their own to help Captain Marvel stop the warlord from littering the Hall of Justice with their corpses.

Meanwhile, Captain Atom (Michael T. Weiss) meets with an ambassador of The Reach who continues to undermine the League’s relationship with the United States government under the guise of friendship. And Black Canary debriefs Blue Bettle (Eric Lopez), Impulse (Jason Marsden), and Lagoon Boy (Yuri Lowenthal), and interviews the abducted children who were experimented on by The Reach to ignite their Meta-Gene including teenager Virgil Hawkins who now has a special relationship with electricity.

While Despero is a little too one-note, the episode provides plenty of action as well as lay the foundation for future problems for the League with both The Reach and the U.S. Government. The best choice the episode makes is to include L-Ron (Phil LaMarr) as Despero’s servant. Fans of Keith Giffen‘s legendary run on Justice League will recognize the character as former companion of Magna Khan and Maxwell Lord‘s faithful sidekick. I was sad to see him “destroyed” as I’d like to see more of the little guy in the future.
