Detective Comics #951 comic review

“League of Shadows” begins here with Shiva and the League hitting Gotham City. Killing the mayor and framing Batman for the crime (hrm, not really happy to see another Batman fugitive storyline), the League of Shadows also expose the local newscasters to Joker venom on-air. And they are just getting started. Wreaking general havoc, the League begins its attack on the city and its protectors. As to just what the League wants, and how Batman for Batman and his team will have to go to stop them, we’ll just have to wait and see. Worth a look.

[DC, $2.99]

With David (Dan Stevens) lost inside his own mind, his friends attempt to search for answers in the outside world by tracking down those who knew him best including his former girlfriend (Katie Aselton) and Dr. Poole (Scott Lawrence). Unfortunately for one member of the team, their actions draw the attention of D3 leading to an ambush at the doctor’s secluded home.

Arrow - Fighting Fire With Fire television review

Since they were introduced it was obvious that either Billy Malone or Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) was going to eventually be revealed as Prometheus. Billy’s death made it all too easy to guess the identity of the season’s big bad. As expected, Adrian is revealed to be Prometheus in “Fighting Fire With Fire” although Ollie (Stephen Amell) won’t know this for at least another week. The main focus of the latest episode is Oliver and company (heh) going into damage-control mode after Chase leaks the cover-up in Green Arrow’s involvement in Billy’s murder. Facing impeachment, Oliver decides drastic action is called for, and rather than blackmail those deciding his fate or throw one of his subordinates to the wolves, Mayor Queen decides to turn the city’s hero into the bad guy.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Blu-ray reviewIt’s somewhat amazing that between X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine that 20th Century Fox didn’t manage to destroy their X-Men movie franchise. For Throwback Thursday we take a look back at the first of the Wolverine standalone films. X-Men Origins: Wolverine delves into the unexplored past of Logan (Hugh Jackman) while continuing to refuse to quite nail down the exact date of his birth. Not fitting in at all with the timeline of the other X-Men films, the movie has been largely ignored in current continuity (although one important aspect does return in Logan).

Along with a brief introduction of Logan as a child, and a montage of him working with Team X, the story jumps forward to events which will pull him out of his quiet life in the Canadian wilderness with Silverfox (Lynn Collins) and lead to both his adamantium upgrade and events which will cause him to lose memories of his past.
