Hawaii Five-0 - Huikau na makau a na lawai'a television review

After his stakeout turns into a kidnapping, private eye Harry Brown (William Forsythe) enlists the help of a Five-0 to find a missing woman (Lena Georgas) whose husband believed was having an affair. After his refusal to pay, the man’s mistress (Melanie Rains) is taken by masked men as well, leaving McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and his team limited time to find both women. The case has a twist you’ll likely see coming if you are paying attention, but the tension still works well-enough. The showdown with the kidnappers also shows off Kono‘s (Grace Park) sharpshooting skills.

Booster Gold/The Flintstones Special #1

Booster Gold/The Flintstones Special #1 comic reviewOne of a handful of special one-off crossover issues, Booster Gold/The Flintstones Special #1 takes Booster Gold back to Bedrock in search of the original cause of a current alien invasion (unaware that his actions will actually put the dominoes in motion). It’s good to see Booster back, even if it is only in an unusual one-shot like this. Thankfully the character has reverted back to his pre-New 52 costume (complete with yellow pants), but sadly his Elvis collar has still left the building.

As for the inhabitants of Bedrock, the Flinstones are nearly unrecognizable. Far from the design of the original cartoon, artist Rick Leonardi attempts to draw all the inhabitants of Bedrock as people you might meet around any corner of the DCU. It’s a little disconcerting.

Rick and Morty - The Rickshank Redemption TV review

In a surprise move, Cartoon Network decided to air the Third Season premiere of Rick and Morty on April 1st. And they kept airing it, over and over, causing more than a few viewers to wonder what the hell was going on and why new episodes for a show viewers had been waiting more than a decade to see was preempted by one fans had been waiting a few months for. Detaching my disappointment for no Samurai Jack (grrr….), I’ll admit that “The Rickshank Redemption” is a bizarrely good time as Rick (Justin Roiland) breaks out of prison and rescues Summer (Spencer Grammer) and Morty (Roiland) from the Citadel of Ricks by body-swapping his way through an ingenious plan that leaves bodies everywhere (and Rick sadly without the ability to improv).

The Blacklist: Redemption - Hostages TV review

Two big secrets are revealed in the penultimate episode of The Blacklist: Redemption. First, Scottie (Famke Janssen) discovers that Tom (Ryan Eggold) is the inside man working for her not-so-dead husband Howard (Terry O’Quinn). Second, to prevent Scottie from killing Tom, Howard is forced to reveal their familial relationship to the man who calls himself Tom Keen. As for just what this means for Scottie’s larger plans, Howard’s conspiracy theories, and the future of Tom, it will all likely be determined in next week’s finale where apparently more of the The Blacklist cast will finally make an appearance.
