Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #25

Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #25 comic reviewWhile ultimately I don’t think Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #25 quite lives up to its promise, it’s hard for me not to enjoy a comic that so blatantly celebrates the Bronze Age pairing of Green Lantern and Green Arrow. When Mystery, Inc. travels into Karma Corners the group of meddling kids and their talking dog run across a pair of hard-traveling heroes (making reference to Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams famous comic run).

I enjoyed seeing Scooby-Doo and the gang interact with both Ollie and Hal, but the setting of Karma Corners is a bit corny (even for me). Still, there’s plenty of fun to be had including writer Sholly Fisch having fun with the fact that Green Arrow’s rogues gallery is pretty damn forgettable. The comic even gives us a (far too short) appearance by Black Canary.

Lucifer - Candy Morningstar TV review

After an extended hiatus Lucifer finally returns. I’ll be honest, like Chloe (Lauren German) I was irked by Lucifer (Tom Ellis) apparently reverting to form showing up after an unannounced two-week vacation with a bimbette bride (Lindsey Gort) and walking into the police station as if nothing had happened. As the episode unfolded, however, there are aspects of the story that turned out to be better planned than simply resetting the status quo just for the sake of doing so. The hidden nobility of Lucifer’s actions and the truth about just who Candy (Gort) is both continue to build on a character who is far more layered than when Detective Decker first walked in to his bar. The subplot of his Mum (Tricia Helfer) wracking her head attempting to make sense out of such a bizarre action turned out to be an added treat.

The Flash - I Know Who You Are television review

In an episode primarily focused on Team Flash trying to keep Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) from killing the scientist (Anne Dudek) who will one day create a way to trap Savitar in the Speed Force, “I Know Who Are” also delivers the long-awaited reveal of the identity of the season’s big bad. It’s somewhat less impressive than intended. Over the months since the character’s initial appearance there have been many theories about just who is under that armor and what his true motivations are. I never liked the theory of Savitar being an older version of Barry (Grant Gustin) where other more interesting options were available. However, that seems what we’re stuck with. Of course by with the big reveal the show does open a major plot hole. If Barry truly wants to keep his love safe from harm he can make the same sacrifice Eddie made back in the show’s First Season making it impossible for an older version of himself to kill Iris (Candice Patton).

Supergirl - Alex television review

While the show’s B-story continues to slowly develop a relationship between Lena Luther (Katie McGrath) and Rhea (Teri Hatcher) leading into the show’s season finale, most of “Alex” is devoted to the abduction of Kara‘s (Melissa Benoist) sister by a childhood acquaintance who discovered her secret and now hopes to leverage it to get Supergirl to break his father (Gregg Henry) out of prison. How far will Supergirl go to save her sister?
