Mike Myers plays a man raised by gurus who returns to the good ol’ USA to get into the self-help business. Yeah… Jessica Alba, Meagan Good, Ben Kingsley, Romany Malco, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake and The Daily Show‘s John Oliver also star. Check out the official site. Movie comic book heroes beware there is a new monster in town and he’s a creature to reckon with. This summer blockbuster certainly follows up the Iron Man hit with no shame. The Incredible Hulk blows the previous failed attempt away and leaves the audience in astonishment with a strong leading man, Edward Norton.
The Incredible Hulk simply can’t fail as this summer’s blockbuster with such a powerful cast, impressive CGI and ball-busting action scenes. The Hulk is a force to beat this summer and is accompanied with such greats as Iron Man , The Dark Knight , Hellboy , Hancock and Wanted . What did we ever do to deserve such a summer of decadent viewing pleasures of action, violence, super heroes and happy endings?

A good film reviewer, like a journalist, should be unbiased when covering a subject. If you’re walk into a movie theater with abnormally high hopes for a film, it might be more difficult admitting actual faults in the movie after it’s finished playing.
Well, I like to think I can keep myself reasonably unbiased; but I’ve been rooting for writer/director/producer/actor M. Night Shyamalan‘s extra loudly ever since he began to be unfairly trashed (circa his 2004 let-down, The Village). So I walked into Shyamalan’s newest effort, Rated-R thriller The Happening hoping it would be a bright bastion of tense filmmaking that would force the haters to concede to Shyamalan’s talent. And yet, even with my high hopes and willingness to overlook slight errors in the filmmaker’s work, I found myself actually laughing out loud at – not with – much of The Happening.

Okay, this one’s not for everybody. This bleak look at the life of a girl raised by a serial killer, ushered in an out of psychiatric hospitals, abused by a doctor she believed loved her, and mother to a legacy of Grendel, isn’t what one would call a happy tale. Now available in a new hardcover collection from Dark Horse Comics, it is however worth a look.
Grendel: Devil Child takes a look at one of the most important transitionary characters of Matt Wagner‘s Grendel storyline.
The story follows the tragic life of young Stacy Palumbo, the adopted daughter who turned on Hunter Rose after learning of nighttime activities as the original Grendel. Stacy spends the entire length of this tale in and out of psychiatric institutes, never quite coming to grips with that fateful night she purposely sent Grendel and Argent to their doom.

Grendel: Devil Quest is a curiosity, the less interesting alternative view of Grendel Prime’s travel through time searching for the original Grendel, Hunter Rose. Told through the perspectives of other characters in the future world first established in previous works such as Grendel: God and the Devil, Grendel: Devil’s Reign, and Grendel: War Child.
Those unfamiliar with the convoluted history of the futuristic versions of Grendel in the 26th Century may want to take a pass, or at least do some research before jumping into Grendel: Devil Quest.
The story’s main function is to show what is happening in the future after Jupiter’s coronation as the new Grendel-Khan. Most of the story revolves around the unsuccessful search by various factions for the missing cyborg Grendel Prime, who only makes the shortest of appearances here before vanishing in a time travel experiment before reappearing on final page (those wanting to know what happened should pick up Batman/Grendel).
