Legacies - This is What It Takes television review

After the defeat of the Necromancer (Ben Geurens), Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) returns without Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) as the school rallies behind her to find a way to bring him back. While Alaric (Matthew Davis) searches high and low for a mystical solution, he sends Hope inside the Therapy Box which recreates the school as the as setting of an old school slasher flick. While the episode is predominantly about Hope’s refusal to admit her loss, the episode ends on a cliffhanger suggesting that there may be a bit of magic left in the world. Elsewhere, Josie‘s (Kaylee Bryant) desire for a magic-free life makes her contemplate a move to Mystic Falls High which doesn’t initially sit well with Lizzie (Jenny Boyd).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #114

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #114The Turtles get some unexpected visitors. A helicopter going down leaves an injured Karai, Koya, and Bludgeon in the Turtles’ care, and two extremely large mutants Rahzar and Tokka are set loose within the city. The pair are much like the weasels being very childlike, but far more vicious and dangerous as the Turtles discover firsthand. Oh, and Bebop and Rocksteady are also wandering around looking for Karai and the missing mutants.

The other visitor is a version of Lita from the future who has traveled back after stealing a time scepter in hopes of preventing a dark future that destroyed her family.

Prodigal Son - Head Case television review

“Head Case” offers the opportunity for Malcom (Tom Payne) to dream up a better life after being thrown down an elevator shaft while investigating a new murder and a derelict hotel. While living in a brighter world with a far happier Whitley family, the truth of Malcolm’s life creeps in forcing him to work on solving the case and breaking out of his concussed stupor. The set-up allows for the show to play with the idea of pairing Malcolm with Dani (Aurora Perrineau) romantically, an idea it has lightly teased but mostly stayed away from, without actually pulling the trigger (except in Malcolm’s mind). While the dream sequences are the most important aspect of the episode, it’s the conclusion which is likely to have far more impact on the season arc as Malcolm tells Ainsley (Halston Sage) the truth about the death of Nicholas Endicott only to learn she may have killed again.

MacGyver - Deathlock television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the original improvisational MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) armed only with genius-level intellect, a Swiss Army knife, and whatever he can cobble together to solve the problems of the week. In most cases the original MacGyver did well with pulling off episodes on a limited budget, focusing on MacGyver saving the day with whatever he could get his hands on. “Deathlock” is one instance where the show could have used a bit more money to play with as MacGyver, Pete (Dana Elcar), a technician (Beulah Quo), and Karen Blake (Wendy Schaal) are all trapped within a mansion by an enemy agent wanting revenge on MacGyver.
