The Wild Storm #14 comic reviewFourteen issues into the series, writer Warren Ellis continues to build on the universe of The Wild Storm. The latest issue introduces us to another human transformed in Project Thunderbird when John Lynch visits his old friend Alexandra Fairchild. The Wild Storm #13

The Wild Storm #13 comic reviewThe war between I.O. and Skywatch heats up as Jacklyn King gets a close look at Henry Bendix‘s quick and brutal reprisal for I.O. hacking into Skywatch. This, of course, will lead to an I.O. retaliation as well. Elsewhere Jenny Mei Sparks and Shen Li-Min go recruiting as the comic’s version of the Authority may be finally taking shape. The Wild Storm #12

The Wild Storm #12 comic review

Break-ins are the common theme of both storylines in The Wild Storm #12. As Jacklyn King begins I.O.‘s hack into Skywatch, Grifter and his team for an evacuation of an I.O. facility to steal data, crash their system (part of the plan), and leave lots of dead bodies (not so much part of the plan). The one thing that’s clear after the dust settled is everyone is more on edge than they were before and the war Jennifer Mei Sparks saw brewing between Skywatch and IO may have just begun. I hope you are gathering your team Sparks, it appears the world is going to need them sooner than later. Worth a look.

The Wild Storm #11

The Wild Storm #11 comic reviewThe latest issue of The Wild Storm jumps around quite a bit, checking on various characters and the state of events. As a result, the overall plot of the comic moves only marginally forward, although several of these scattered stories do continue to develop.

The Wild Storm #11 gives us Jennifer Mei Sparks and the Doctor getting to know each other better while also providing some foreshadowing of a larger team to come. Is this the first step to a new Authority? We’ll have to wait and see. Angela Spica continues to experiment with the tech that turned her into the Engineer – with cool results. And Grifter gets a visit from an old friend.

The Wild Storm #8

The Wild Storm #8 comic reviewThere’s a ton going on in this issue. The opening storyline involves Jacob Marlowe telling Angie Spica the truth about what he and his friends are doing on Earth… well, mostly the truth. This “easy-reader” explanation works both as a primer for Angie and readers, but of course leaves out some important details. While she’s a bit overwhelmed with what she’s learned, Angie has found a safe heaven, at least for now. Jacklyn King‘s team also identifies Grifter, leaving them with several questions about how to best proceed.
